How To Get Started
  • Location

To start, it is important to pinpoint the optimal location for your business. As alcohol consumption is often viewed as a recreational activity, many customers prefer establishments that are conveniently located near main roads. Therefore, it is recommended that you select a location with high traffic. However, it’s important to note that it’s illegal to operate near schools, so be sure to steer clear of these areas.

  • Requirements for setting up
The requirements for setting up your business will vary depending on your long-term goals and available capital. For example, if you have limited funds, you may consider starting with a small 10×10 ft room to establish a simple wines and spirits takeaway shop. With more capital, you could invest in a sit-in facility equipped with chairs, tables, and shelves. Keep in mind that rental prices can range from Ksh10,000 to Ksh50,000 on average, depending on location.

  • Stock (Inventory) – Ksh50,000
  • Miscellaneous – Ksh100,000
  • TOTAL – Ksh270,000

OTHER FEES

There is the KRA, fire extinguisher, health for your employees I have paid mine around 100k and and city council is 35k.

Those licenses are if you want to operate from 5 pm however if you want to open the whole day you need to add 50k on top of that but all in all its a good budget plan

The primary challenge you’ll face is intense competition within the market. To overcome this, it’s important to provide quality services and competitive pricing to retain existing customers, who can then help spread the word to their friends and family. Additionally, it’s important to be aware of the restricted business hours, which only allow operation from 5:00pm to 11:00pm on weekdays and from 2:00pm to 11:00pm on weekends and public holidays.
