Police in Murang’a are currently on a manhunt for a 28-year-old man who is suspected of murdering his two young children, aged 3 and 7.
The tragic incident occurred at Ndikwe Mugo wa Nyoni village in Kiharu.
According to reports, Evans Kang’ethe allegedly used a sharp object to carry out this gruesome act.
Neighbors were alerted by the children’s screams and rushed to the scene, only to discover their lifeless bodies on a sofa set inside the house. The locals found a blood-stained object at the crime scene.
Murang’a crime scene experts processed the area and subsequently moved the bodies to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital Mortuary for preservation and further examination through an autopsy.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the man and his wife had been embroiled in a dispute over family matters, leading to the wife leaving their marital home a week ago. Some relatives of the suspect revealed that the couple had been engaging in frequent fights, and they had advised them to separate.
The Murang’a police chief described the incident as bizarre and assured the public that the authorities are actively pursuing the perpetrator.
